The Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum is proud to offer the UC California Naturalist certification course. Learn about Southern California’s South Bay area and become part of the volunteer naturalists and citizen scientists ready to take an active role in the local area’s natural resource conservation, education and preservation.
Classes will be held at the museum, which is part of the 1stSpanish land grant in California dating back to 1784, which was 75,000 acres. The museum is California landmark number 152 and on the national registry of historic places. Its 13 acres represents what the South Bay area looked like back in the 18th and 19thcenturies. The classes will be taught by professors from Cal State University, Dominguez Hills and El Camino College; who will be joined by local expert speakers from many local organizations and community partners in the preservation of our natural environment. Classes will provide a broad overview of the California natural resources and history with an emphasis on the South Bay area. Participants will become skilled interpreters, citizen scientists and volunteer naturalists well versed in the South Bay region.
Schedule: 10 Saturdays, 10:00am– 1:00pm. January 24, 31, February 7, 14, 28, March 7, 21, 28, April 11, 25. 3 Saturday field trips, 10:00am – 3:00pm.

- Compton Creek
Fee: $300. 4 units of lower division college credit available for an additional $80 upon completion of program requirements.
